Bio

Hello students and parents! I am so excited to be teaching Gifted this year at Heritage Elementary. I am originally a native of Arab, AL. I attended college at Jacksonville State University and remained in Jacksonville, AL to teach in the area for several years. I am so happy to be near my family again and part of another wonderful family at Heritage Elementary School. I recently received my certificate in Gifted Education from Samford University. My hope as a teacher is to inspire creativity in students by providing opportunities to experience  new things and think critically about situations. I also hope to help students develop a strong sense of identity and self-worth as well as practice global and diverse thinking. I believe that the integration of technology is an imperative and motivational tool in the classroom. The ultimate goal is to prepare students for a bright and successful future in which they will utilize their unique talents and abilities!

I also sponsor/coach the Lego Robotics and Destination Imagination Team at Heritage Elemetnary. These teams compete in challenges that integrate creativity, technology, and performance. Look for DI applications to go out in September each year. Lego Robotics applications go out near the close of the school year following an info meeting.

Outside of school, I love to dance. I was a marching ballerina at JSU, and I now coach dance lines over the summer. I also love cooking, traveling, watching movies, reading, learning new ways to use technology, and geeking out on the internet. My husband, Justin, and I were married in May, 2015. I will be leaving this year, from December to March , to have our first daughter, Audrey Rose Gibbs! I have one lazy cat, Sweetgirl, who you can't help but love!

Let's make this a woderful year!
