He first came to Madison in 2004 when then-Discovery Middle Principal Parker hired him as a teacher, then assigned him to special education and added coaching duties.
Mr. Terrell served as a teacher-coach at Liberty Middle School; a teacher, coach and assistant principal at Bob Jones High School, and an assistant principal at James Clemens High School.
Mr. Parker said Mr. Terrell gives his all for the district no matter what school or position he serves in.
Board members also commended Mr. Terrell for his work ethic.
Mr. Parker lost much of his top command to retirements since taking over as superintendent following the retirement of Dr. Dee Fowler. Vacancies include Chief School Financial Officer, Director of Operations, Director of Student Services and soon the district's custodial supervisor.
Mr. Terrell told the board he is honored to have been chosen as Assistant Superintendent of Operations and looks forward to the new role.
Joining Mr. Terrell at the board meeting were his wife, LaTerra, and daughters Kelsey, 8; and Kylee, 5, pictured below.
